OBSG Series 01 - Instructing a Child of Destiny – Genesis 28:1-5

Every time GOD finds a man to fulfill a purpose, specific instructions are given to such fellow…your success will be determined by your level of endurance and obedience to the instructions from GOD.  As we can see in Genesis 28:1-5, Jacob was a man of Destiny, whom GOD had ordained even before his conception, and as such, he was given instructions by his father Isaac to marry well from where he did as another covenanted child.

Genesis 28: 1-5
1. Then Isaac called Jacob and blessed him, and charged him, and said to him: “You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan.
2. Arise, go to Padan Aram, to the house of Bethuel your mother’s father; and take yourself a wife from there of the daughters of Laban your mother’s brother.
3. “May God Almighty bless you, and make you fruitful and multiply you, that you may be an assembly of peoples;
4. And give you the blessing of Abraham, to you and your descendants with you that you may inherit the land in which you are a stranger, which God gave to Abraham.”
5. So Isaac sent Jacob away, and he went to Padan Aram, to Laban the son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau.

Most times, GOD pass instructions to us through our parents, friends, pastors and even strangers.  We need to be spiritually alert to know if we are hearing from GOD or the devil. Obeying such instructions is all we need to succeed, if only we will not let the things of this world drag us into disobeying GOD’s instructions.  As a believer, we are given the unmerited favour and opportunity to commune with our maker and receive instructions from HIM that will shape our destiny.  We can only achieve success like Jacob deed, when we follow GOD’s divine instructions.
Praise the LORD of HOST.

Prayer: Heavenly FATHER help us imbibe the spirit of obedience to obey every Instructions from YOUR word that will lead us to live a peaceful, successful and prosperous life in JESUS name, amen.

OBSG Series 07 – GOD’s Favour

Genesis 29:1-8  Jacob proceeded cheerfully in his journey, after the sweet communion he had with God at Beth-el. Providence brought him to the field where his uncle's flocks were to be watered. What is said of the care of the shepherds for their sheep, may remind us of the tender concern which our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, has for his flock the church; for he is the good Shepherd, that knows his sheep, and is known of them.  The stone at the well's mouth was to secure it; water was scarce, it was not there for every one's use: but separate interests should not take us from helping one another. When all the shepherds came together with their flocks, then, like loving neighbours, they watered their flocks together. The law of kindness in the tongue has a commanding power, Proverbs 31:26 . Jacob was civil to these strangers, and he found them civil to him. Same way, if we today’s Christians listen and obey GOD’s word, HE will definitely do more...

OBSG Series 02 - Esau’s Mistake – Genesis 28:6-9

Esau had married two Canaanite women, women who were from different backgrounds as him, without the fear of GOD in them.  They were idol worshipers. After seeing that his parents urged Jacob to go marry from his mother’s people, he realized his parents were really displeased with his choice.  Esau trying to fix what he had done, took Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham’s son as a wife, because to him, marrying his cousin like Jacob was instructed, would fix his broken relationship with his parents but little did he know he was going about it the wrong way, fixing a mistake with another mistake. Genesis 28:6-9 6 Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Padan Aram to take himself a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, “You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan,” 7 and that Jacob had obeyed his father and his mother and had gone to Padan Aram. 8 Also Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan did not p...

OBSG Series 04 – Matthew 28:1-8

Matthew 28:1-8 Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. 4 And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men. 5 But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 7 And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.” 8 So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word. JESUS said I will destroy this church and I will raise it up in 3 days… ( J...
