OBSG Series 04 – Matthew 28:1-8

Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. 4 And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.
5 But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 7 And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.”
8 So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word.

JESUS said I will destroy this church and I will raise it up in 3 days… (John 2:19), the people never understood HIM and some thought HE was insane, until after resurrection.  HE destroyed the temple, died with it and resurrected with it after 3 days. Praise the LORD of HOST.

When Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to seek JESUS in the tomb where HE was buried, HE had already risen and an angel with waiting for them right at the entrance, to give them the good news.  He told them that CHRIST has risen and that HE had gone ahead of them, into Galilee.

Most of us till date still go to all the wrong places to seek the face of our GOD, Mary Magdalene and everyone else were told that CHRIST will resurrect on the third day, but what did they do, they went there on that day to visit the tomb of a risen KING.  Fortunately for them, CHRIST had proved HIMSELF, defeated death and came back to life.

We also want to see proof before we believe the word of GOD that is why so many of us, in the process of searching for this so-called truth, end up ruining our relationship and access to GOD, because we go to all the wrong places to seek for solutions and answers.  Sometimes, we hear that tiny still voice in our heads, telling us to do the right thing, or we can be cautioned or given instructions by our pastors, family members, spouses, friends etc., but we never listen.

The Bible says if your eyes be single, your whole body shall be full of light (Matthew 6:22).  Have faith in GOD and always believe what HE says to us in HIS word.  Don’t jump from pillar to post, seeking for help where there is none, because you are unstable and your faith is wavering.
Let us not forget, it is only when we believe in GOD, that HE can work wonders for us.  Let your eyes be single, and look only unto CHRIST and trust in HIS words…shalom.

Prayer: LORD JESUS, give us the grace and help our faith in you to increase to a point where we don’t doubt your words anymore, in JESUS name, amen.

OBSG Series 07 – GOD’s Favour

Genesis 29:1-8  Jacob proceeded cheerfully in his journey, after the sweet communion he had with God at Beth-el. Providence brought him to the field where his uncle's flocks were to be watered. What is said of the care of the shepherds for their sheep, may remind us of the tender concern which our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, has for his flock the church; for he is the good Shepherd, that knows his sheep, and is known of them.  The stone at the well's mouth was to secure it; water was scarce, it was not there for every one's use: but separate interests should not take us from helping one another. When all the shepherds came together with their flocks, then, like loving neighbours, they watered their flocks together. The law of kindness in the tongue has a commanding power, Proverbs 31:26 . Jacob was civil to these strangers, and he found them civil to him. Same way, if we today’s Christians listen and obey GOD’s word, HE will definitely do more...

OBSG Series 02 - Esau’s Mistake – Genesis 28:6-9

Esau had married two Canaanite women, women who were from different backgrounds as him, without the fear of GOD in them.  They were idol worshipers. After seeing that his parents urged Jacob to go marry from his mother’s people, he realized his parents were really displeased with his choice.  Esau trying to fix what he had done, took Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham’s son as a wife, because to him, marrying his cousin like Jacob was instructed, would fix his broken relationship with his parents but little did he know he was going about it the wrong way, fixing a mistake with another mistake. Genesis 28:6-9 6 Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Padan Aram to take himself a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, “You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan,” 7 and that Jacob had obeyed his father and his mother and had gone to Padan Aram. 8 Also Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan did not p...
