OBSG Series 12 - The Dangers of Living on the Prayers of someone Else

Job 1:4-5,8,10,12
[4]And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.

[5]And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.

[8]And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

[10]Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
[12]And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

Job was a man who feared and served GOD with all his heart, but his children and servants were busy living under his covering. They were comfortable with their father and master making sacrifices on their behalf and asking GOD for forgiveness of sins on their behalf for a long time. But it all happened that interceding on their behalf cannot last forever as GOD don't have step children, mothers and fathers, masters and servants, pastors nor priests in heaven. HE only has sons and daughters.

Salvation and knowing GOD is a personal race and personal relationship with GOD our FATHER. I want us to take note of what HE said in verse 8, HE said 'have thou considered my servant Job?' HE did not mention his servants nor sons and daughters, HE was talking about Job as an individual. also in verse 10, note that the devil mentioned that GOD built an edge around Job and his household, (that is where living on Job's prayer came handy for his household) but it never saved the entire family when challenges came.

Ruth 1:16-17 Ruth was a Moabite, an unbeliever who came to believe in GOD through her mother-in-law Naomi. Ruth became a celebrity in the lineage of JESUS because she took that singular step to believe in GOD on her own, by making her own decision and not waiting on the prayers or intercession of Noami her mother-in-law.

A lot of us these days are too lazy to pray, too lazy to fast and too lazy to seek the face of GOD ourselves. we prefer to wait on different men of GOD and ask them for help, we have totally forgotten that salvation is extremely personal. JESUS said take up YOUR cross and follow me (Matthew 16:24), not the cross of your spouse, father mother, friends, etc. We all will stand, all man according to his rank, none shall break into another's rank (Joel 2:7).

JESUS HIMSELF, understood the power of interceding for one's self, that HE went for baptism and into wilderness on HIS own accord. Several times we read where HE left HIS disciples and decided to go commune with the FATHER alone. (Luke 5:16). the bible says HE went with HIS disciples, but HE separated HIMSELF from them and prayed on HIS own.
Do not always wait for your pastors to pray for you, you are meant to do these things yourself, have a personal relationship with GOD so you can be saved at all times. there is a limit as to where granny's prayers can and will work for you, you need to acknowledge CHRIST as your LORD and personal savior and come under HIS protection...Praise the LORD of HOST!
Job's children were comfortable with their father's intercession on their behalf and met their untimely death due their laziness and negligence.
Jabez understood what it means to have a personal relationship with GOD, and was able to break a long standing family curse upon his life (1 Chronicles 4:10).
You are the reason why that challenge is still mocking you in the face...if you are yet to acknowledge your place in the kingdom of GOD, do so today and stop living on someone else's angels and prayers...Praise the LORD of HOST!

Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, fill us with the strength and grace to intercede for ourselves in prayers and supplications to GOD ALMIGHTY in JESUS name, Amen.
Please feel free to send us e-mail at obsgonline@gmail.com, we are interested in your Christian life and growth in CHRIST.  GOD Bless You.

OBSG Series 07 – GOD’s Favour

Genesis 29:1-8  Jacob proceeded cheerfully in his journey, after the sweet communion he had with God at Beth-el. Providence brought him to the field where his uncle's flocks were to be watered. What is said of the care of the shepherds for their sheep, may remind us of the tender concern which our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, has for his flock the church; for he is the good Shepherd, that knows his sheep, and is known of them.  The stone at the well's mouth was to secure it; water was scarce, it was not there for every one's use: but separate interests should not take us from helping one another. When all the shepherds came together with their flocks, then, like loving neighbours, they watered their flocks together. The law of kindness in the tongue has a commanding power, Proverbs 31:26 . Jacob was civil to these strangers, and he found them civil to him. Same way, if we today’s Christians listen and obey GOD’s word, HE will definitely do more...

OBSG Series 02 - Esau’s Mistake – Genesis 28:6-9

Esau had married two Canaanite women, women who were from different backgrounds as him, without the fear of GOD in them.  They were idol worshipers. After seeing that his parents urged Jacob to go marry from his mother’s people, he realized his parents were really displeased with his choice.  Esau trying to fix what he had done, took Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham’s son as a wife, because to him, marrying his cousin like Jacob was instructed, would fix his broken relationship with his parents but little did he know he was going about it the wrong way, fixing a mistake with another mistake. Genesis 28:6-9 6 Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Padan Aram to take himself a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, “You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan,” 7 and that Jacob had obeyed his father and his mother and had gone to Padan Aram. 8 Also Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan did not p...

OBSG Series 04 – Matthew 28:1-8

Matthew 28:1-8 Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. 4 And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men. 5 But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 7 And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.” 8 So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word. JESUS said I will destroy this church and I will raise it up in 3 days… ( J...
